Carl Scorup and family seen in Las Vegas
Since not all our kids could make it to the reunion in Island Park we had our own family reunion in Las Vegas for a week at Kim and Robs home.
In March of this year, Kim & Rob bought a beautiful house in Henderson; it has a swimming pool with a hot tub and a game room with a pool table. A week after they moved in they discovered they had scorpions – Kim was stung. They soon discovered scorpions are prevalent in a couple of the surrounding housing developments...including theirs now. From March until July they had aggressively searched, found and killed 198. Allen was stung the week before we got there – upstairs in his bed. Since stings can be fatal for small children we had two rooms at a casino on Fremont Street; one for Tom, Brooke & Jeremy and one for Shelley & Monica. Carl & I braved it at the house. Scorpions are nocturnal but using a black light they glow in the dark. So anyone who is at the house after dark has to wear shoes and carry a black light with them. We went “scorpion hunting” one night and only found one outside.
All together there were 14 of us ... Carl, Ginny, Rob, Kim, Robert, Lace, Allen, Sarah, Shelley, Monica, Tom, Brooke & Jeremy. We were still missing Angie and Presley but Robert's girlfriend Laryne joined us.
We spent a lot of time at Kim & Rob's swimming, playing pool and hanging out. We went to Lace's baseball practice and Sarah's pitching lesson.
We went to several casinos checking out the décor as well as leaving a bit of money where we could. A couple of the places we went were the M&M Store and Circus Circus Adventuredone.
Later in the evening some of the adults went to the Gerry McCambridge, The Mentalist show.
Our t-shirts had been ordered with an Island Park logo, we decided at the last minute to go to Vegas instead and were able to change the logo on the t-shirts. All of us (except Robert) went to the Excalibur Battle of the Kings dinner/play one evening where we wore our t-shirts. The play was excellent!

We all had a great time. The best part for us was spending time with our kids and grandkids, the second was probably the Battle of the Kings dinner/play. We all missed attending the official reunion and spending time with other family members though and hope there is another one in the future.
Love, Ginny & Carl
