Featured Family - Bob & Iola
What has been happening in the lives of Bob and Iola and their children and grandchildren? Some of this might be old news, but read on...
Cheryl is now working at a hospital in Orem, Utah on the maternity ward. This is someth ing she has always wanted. She really enjoys the role of Grandmother to Chris and Krista's two children, Jonah almost 4, and Maren, age 2. They will be joined by a little brother in August. Chris is teaching 5th grade in Spanish Fork and Krista is working at home for her brother-in-law. All in all, they keep very busy. (They have a blog with cute pictures of the kids.) Brad is working and going to school. Anyway, he also keeps very busy. Ryan and Lila have bought a home in Spanish Fork and both of them are working full time, so they keep busy. Blake is living at home and working and growing taller all the time! I have to think real hard to remember when these boys were little, and I could hold them on my lap.
Kirby and Sherri live in their new home in Clinton, Utah. After serving in Iraq he decided to go full time with the National Guard. They offered him a position in Ogden if he would learn another language, so he did and they bought the house in Clinton. As is typical with the government, they did not have all his clearance papers ready so he took a job teaching at Camp Williams near the "point of the mountain." He has a long commute, but he says it is the best job ever. So things sometimes work out for the better. Their son, Michael is getting married on June 9th and will be living in Logan, where they can go to school. Michelle and Caren are in college, which leaves just Kyle and his three sisters Bethany, Meagan & Rebecca at home.
You learned a lot about Marty and Adonna in a previous Featured Family edition so will not go into much detail. Like everyone else, they are very busy with work and school, and taking care of their "ranch" in Fallon, NV.
Jim and Amy are still in Las Vegas. Jim will be leaving the Air Force in less than a year, and has opened up his own clinic where he can be a real doctor. He is also a councilor in the Stake presidency, so he isn't at home very much, but they are still doing a great job with our six grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Madelaine, Sophie, Chloe and Amelia!
Patti and Richard are busy being college students, teachers, employees, and parents. Both of them are enrolled at Utah Valley Community College, and are also teaching some classes there. Richard should get his teaching certificate this spring and Patti...whenever. Hope some day they can just have one job each and move into a house! They are real troupers when it comes to taking care of their family. For two years their eldest son, Jared, has been doing his school work at home, so he can also take care of Rachel, their youngest. Jared is now 15, David is 13, Hannah is almost 9, and Rachel is 4.
Bob and Iola just stay busy being retired. Never thought retirement would take up so much of our time! We do a lot of volunteer work and Bob is always busy helping out the neighbors and friends. Iola is just finishing up the tax season as a volunteer at the Senior Center.
Now for the best news...we just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a party at Kirby’s home. All of the children came and most of the grandchildren were there. It was one great PARTY! Lots of thanks go to Sherri and Kirby for sharing their home with us. Everyone seemed to have a good time. And for a gift they all got together and presented us with a trip on a cruise ship to Alaska! We will be leaving May 19th from Seattle and will be gone a week. This is the first cruise and are really looking forward to all the fun and enjoyment.

While we were up north, we went to check out the place where the Scorup reunion will be held next year. It will be held at Island Park, Idaho on July 5th. For details see the Reunion page.
