Featured Family - Marty & Adonna

Marty & AdonnaIn December 2004 we had decided we had been in the Biggest Little City long enough and started looking at properties in Fallon which is 66 miles east of Reno and home to the Top Gun Naval Air program and lots of farming. We liked what we saw, but kept losing every property we made offers on. Things changed however when we saw a place that has a modest but modern home on 22 acres and a huge shop building. We thought it was over priced but we kind of liked it and the kids were excited for one reason -- it has an indoor swimming pool attached to the house. I would probably never have a pool put in unless I was a doctor living in Las Vegas, but this one is already there so what the heck. We gave what we thought would be an offer so low that they wouldn't take it, but they did. So we are now the owners of this cute little farm in Fallon, NV. I didn't think you can make a living farming on 22 acres (not legally anyway) so I still provide legal services, but my clients are farmers and Navy guys.

Adonna and I have 6 children, four are on their own:

  • Kassia has 3-year old Jayden (a little girl) and is married to Jeff; they live in San Diego.
  • Darrah and her husband Matt Smith have 3-year old Dallas and 10-month old Dayton.
  • Elena is our eternal student attending several colleges and has a couple of bachelor's degrees, but can't settle on a career just yet.
  • Scott was attending UNR, but now works in Marty’s Reno office and plays WOW.
  • Jordyn (11) loves singing, acting in plays and sending email to her friends.
  • Justice (8) is a computer addict, loves video games and can spell lots of big words now.

Jordyn and Justice keep us active with plays, piano practices, football, riding ATV's, and more. We enjoy time together on our place whether it be pulling weeds, fixing things, or the other things that go with a small farm.

Adonna continues to home school Justice and does pottery. We have a shop that has a separate 500 square foot room that is her craft room. I haven't had to buy any bowls, mugs, or plates for quite some time!

We attend church and are both involved in teaching in the youth programs. When we can, we like to camp, especially at Sand Mountain. Our favorite getaway is 4x4 exploring in the Nevada "outback". Occasionally skiing.

As a family we took on my running for Churchill County Justice of the Peace this year, in an election where 8000 plus people voted, we lost by 26 votes. I actually thought, wow, if I had went door to door for ONE more day, that probably would have netted me that many votes! It is difficult to accept, especially how many hours Adonna and Darrah spent working on flyers and ads, etc. for me. They were so good at it, too. Check out our website, www.Crowley4Justice.com, built by Adonna and Darrah of course, you'll see the talent of the beautiful girls I have. I am so lucky to have them. We just will have to take a little while to let this thing sink in.

Love to you all.
