CaciousDustin stopped by to visit Christy in the Tri-Cities with her new grand-puppy Cacious Clay, a cute faun colored boxer. He's 7 weeks old.

ChristyChristy crossed the mountains and is making the Tri-Cities her new home. She's staying with Carl & Ginny until she gets settled. She can be reached there or by calling her same cell number. Chelsea & Carson left Sequim also and moved to St. George, Utah.
Margie reports that Rachel and Porter "PJ" Nay are planning on getting married on January 3, 2009. More to follow.
Eileen shares how to make "cowboy beans" like mom and dad used to make.
To start sort and clean about 2 cups pinto beans. Soak them in a large pot of cold water (with a teaspoon of soda) overnight. Rinse them and fill pot up with fresh water to at least 4 inches above the beans. Put about 2 Tbls. salt and 1 Tbls. sugar in and bring to a boil, turn down and simmer for about 4 hours, checking often to see that it doesn't run dry. Add very very hot water when it cooks down low. I also put a ham bone in it before simmering it. Taste it as you add the salt and sugar.  (Dad said it was necessary for sugar, whenever you add salt.)  Anyway, check it often. You can sort of "mash" the beans when they are soft to get a thicker soup.  When they are done, you can either eat them like that or add salsa, etc., good luck.

Sam & Patricia have great news...Patricia received her permanent residency and Sam has a new job working for the Daily Herald in Provo, UT. Check out his blog for more information. Congratulations to both of you!
  Reunion information update.
Here's our surprise I've been telling you about... we were contacted by Dennis & Patti Fairbourn; Dennis is our 2nd cousin. They sent us information and pictures about a trip they took where Christian Christensen worked before he emigrated to the USA. Check it out: Skaarup Garr in Denmark by Dennis & Patti Fairbourn.  This fits in with the article below.
Have you ever wondered where the Scorup name came from? It's been recorded as Christensen, Aagard, Skaarup, Skorup and Scorup. In 1981, Edith Scorup Clinger wrote a story "What's In A Name".
Our website is coming up for renewal and the decision was to keep it going, stats show someone is reading it.
Sara sent a note saying she'll get the reunion pictures to us as soon as she can. She and John have been bombarded with a record harvest. Everything was later this year and seemed to get ripe at the same time. She just picked the last of the Apricots Friday and usually they are gone by the 1st week in August. They also have lots of peaches, pears and apples. She and John have been selling stuff at a local famers market on Saturdays and bottling peaches, making salsas and syrups and jams. She say's she's even going to try making pesto!

David sent in a few pictures of his and Shawna's newest grandbabies. They are really enjoying their three daughters and families in the Tri-Cities.

Emily & Russell have moved from Vancouver WA to the Tri-Cities where Russell started working for PNNL on July 22nd.  They bought a home in West Pasco about 4 miles from Karen and 2 miles from Mary. As Shawna says ... 3 of 5 children and 8 of 11 grandchildren are close ... PARTY!!
Karen & Brent had a baby girl on Thursday, July 17th.  They named her Lauren, she was 8.5 lbs and 20 inches long.  Ethan was very relieved because, as he said, “I already have a brother”.

Confirmed headcount for the reunion is currently at 70.
Memorial DayCarl & Ginny drove to Othello to put flowers on Dad & Mom's headstone. Shawna & Dave had already been there. After the cemetery we went to Dave & Shawna's to visit.
Tyson is graduating Layton High School on 5/29/2008. Congratulations!

Reunion location is still in Island Park, Idado but has changed to Sawtelle Mountain Resort.

Iola reports: The "Barn" roof caved in and won't be available for the 5th of July.  (A refund check will be coming from the Eagle Ridge Ranch.) Those who booked cabins there can cancel and get a refund if wanted.

We now have reservations at the "Sawtelle Mountain Resort" (www.sawtellemountainresort.com) pavilion for the 5th of July from 9 am till 1:00 pm.  It has seating for 200, so will be big enough. There is grass and playgrounds there.

More detail under the "Reunions" tab. Keep watching the website for updates...
